Description
This test reflects the current Ehrlichia and Anaplasma activity of chronic and recent Ehrlichia and Anaplasma infections.
Ehrlichia and Anaplasma are types of bacteria transmitted by ticks, causing diseases known as Ehrlichiosis and Anaplasmosis, respectively.
The EliSpot is highly sensitive and can detect even one single Ehrlichia or Anaplasma-reactive T-cell. With detection levels that can be as low as one cell in 100,000, the EliSpot is one of the most sensitive cellular assays available.
Methodology: Ehrlichia & Anaplasma EliSpot (T-Cell-Spot / IGRA: Interferon-Gamma-Release Assay)
When should I use: When a recent or chronic case of Ehrlichiosis or Anaplasmosis is suspected.

The EliSpot should usually become negative about 4 to 8 weeks after the completion of an effective therapy.
The symptoms of these infections can include:
- Fever: High fever is common.
- Chills: Often accompanied by chills.
- Headache: Severe headaches are frequent.
- Fatigue: Persistent fatigue and weakness.
- Muscle and Joint Pain: Aching muscles and joints.
- Nausea and Vomiting: Some individuals may experience gastrointestinal symptoms.
- Confusion: In severe cases, confusion or disorientation may occur.
Both Ehrlichiosis and Anaplasmosis lack the erythema migrans rash typically associated with Lyme disease.
