Description:
This test reflects the current Mycoplasma pneumoniae activity of chronic and recent Mycoplasma pneumoniae infections.

Mycoplasma pneumoniae is a type of bacteria that causes respiratory infections.  It has shown to be associated with (in some cases) Myalgic Encephalitis (ME), "Gulf War I syndrome", Guillain-Barre syndrome, Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), Autism, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS), Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA).

The EliSpot is highly sensitive and can detect even one single Mycoplasma pneumoniae-reactive T-cell. With detection levels that can be as low as one cell in 100,000, the EliSpot is one of the most sensitive cellular assays available.

Methodology:
Mycoplasma pneumoniae EliSpot (T-Cell-Spot / IGRA: Interferon-Gamma-Release Assay)

When should I use:
When a recent or chronic case of Mycoplasma pneumoniae infection is suspected.
